Welcome to Te Āwhina Marae o Motueka.
Te Āwhina Marae stands under the two mountains; Pukeone and Tu Ao Wharepapa. The Motueka river runs swiftly, bringing life and nourishment to the district. The mana whenua iwi are Te Ātiawa and Ngāti Rārua and our wharenui is named after the ancestor Turangaapeke.
As our name indicates, Te Āwhina Marae was created as a place that openly welcomes all people to come and learn, seek shelter, find hospitality, access Hauora services,Kohanga Reo and much more.
Te Āwhina Marae is discouraging the consumption of 'fizzy drinks' for whanau and visitors. We all know these are not good for us and definitely NOT good for our tamariki
Vision Statement / Moemoea
Awhi Mai, Awhi Atu
Te Āwhina Marae is a living, thriving and enduring Marae for the whānau, hāpu, and iwi of Motueka.
Mission Statement / Kaupapa
We will achieve this by living and breathing ngāuara (our values) of whānaungatanga, manaakitanga, Rangatiratanga, kaitiakitanga, kotahitanga, wairuatanga and matauranga.
